Diabetic-Mellitus as an Etiological Factor in Hearing Loss

Background: The association of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) in diabetes mellitus patients is known since decades, yet there no clear consensus among previous studies, with respect to the prevalence SNHL type 2 and effect duration control on acuity. Hence objectives this study are find loss. Methods: present was conducted 100 age gender matched non- diabetic controls group < 50 yrs, selected based inclusion exclusion criteria. After detailed history taking clinical examination, all subjects underwent FBS, PPBS estimation HbA1c evaluation done for patients. All pure tone audiometry, DPOAE BERA findings were recorded analyzed. Results: Diabetes had insidious onset, gradually progressive, bilaterally symmetrical SNHL. prevalent 73% compared 16% controls. It aggravated increasing diabetes. Poor showed increased good Conclusions: There it more evident long pronounced poor control.
